ADRENALINE IN PHARMACOLOGY hormone and neurotransmitter, which is activated in the fight or flight reaction and which accelerates the heart rate, increases pressure, constricts blood vessels and dilates the airways Chemically, adrenaline is a catecholamine, a monoamine produced only by the adrenal glands from the amino acids phenylalanine and tyrosine. Adrenaline is the neurotransmitter that is released from the adrenal medulla, while norepinephrine is released from the paravertebral nodes. Adrenaline triggers the production of dopamine, a hormone that produces pleasure, which together with oxytoxins, serotonin and endorphins constitute the so-called hormones of happiness.
